Collaborated with a Scandinavian firm for the design and procurement of oil spill protection system. The system included detection and early warning hydrocarbon oil contamination, physical barriers, cleaning and skimming, equipment and on-land handling facility. The system was devised to protect the desalination plant intake against accidental oil leakage and spills. The design study was conducted in close cooperation with E. Blonberg AB in Gothenburg, Sweden. |

SRI and AHLA (The American Hotel & Lodging Association) carried out world-class tourism worker training in Lebanon, focusing on Food & Beverage Preparation and Food & Beverage Service in lodging establishments, as well as restaurants, in the tourism Growth Poles of Tyre, Chouf, Tripoli, and Metn. Master trainers provided training to supervisors and employees in restaurants and lodging establishments. Certification for hospitality department trainers (CHDT Training) aims at enhancing competence in food and beverage and bed and breakfast skills whereas the job-specific ‘Skills for Success’ course aims at reinforcing practical skills. |

INMA organized in partnership with Internews media law training in Beirut from April 12 – 14, 2011 inclusive. The training was attended by 15 participants from Jordan, Oman, UAE, Tunis, Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt, Yemen, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia. The objective of the three day global media and internet law training was to advance a reform agenda and advocate for improved media and internet law policies. This training served to improve cross-regional (MENA, Asia and Central Asia) coordination in addressing obstacles to media reform and to improve understanding of advocacy strategies and current legal and regulatory challenges to media. |

INMA was commissioned by Internews to organize 2 training sessions for Syrian journalists for a period of 5 days each, titled “Journalism and Digital Security”. The overall goal of the project is to support young Syrian journalists and bloggers to securely deliver professional and credible news about the ongoing crisis in Syria, informing international policy making and supporting a peaceful transition in Syria. The specific project objectives are to develop a cadre of journalists equipped with the skills to produce high quality and professional print/broadcast/online content addressing issues of importance to Syria during this critical time; and to ensure secure communications by developing the capacity of the project’s beneficiaries in digital security and circumvention basics. The training took place between January 14 - 18 and January 21 – 25, 2013 and was attended by a total of 20 journalists who came from Syria, Egypt and Lebanon. |
